Turn-based RPGs that respect your phone battery
Turn-based combat and mobile phones are a natural match. Nobody expects twitch reflexes, the pacing lets you pause, and a good one can turn a commute into an actual campaign. But battery drain quietly ruins a lot of them.
Emberfall Saga is my current favourite for exactly this reason. It looks great but doesn't run the GPU into the ground, so a long train ride doesn't leave me hunting for a charger. The tactical depth is real, too — enemy positioning genuinely matters.
When you're picking one, watch for two things: how the game handles interruptions, and whether it nags you to spend. The best ones save state instantly and let you walk away mid-battle.
Give any RPG at least two hours before judging it. The opening is usually a tutorial dressed as a story, and the good stuff opens up once your party has some tools to play with.
