Hollow Harbor

★★★★★ 4.6 Editor rating

Hollow Harbor is slow in the best way. You wander a fog-soaked town, tapping objects, piecing together what happened to the people who left. The puzzles are logical rather than obtuse, so I rarely reached for a hint.

Atmosphere is the star here. The ambient sound and hand-drawn backgrounds do a lot of heavy lifting, and the story unfolds in fragments you assemble yourself. Play it with headphones.

It's short — maybe four hours — but it lingers afterwards, which is more than most games manage.
